Deck Staining in the Salt Lake Valley
Wasatch Deck & Fence Restoration coordinates deck staining and sealing across the valley. Trusted local partners do the physical work. You get one contact from the first look through the final coat.
We coordinate. Partners finish.
We schedule the estimate, match a trusted local finisher, and stay the point of contact. Trusted local partners wash, prep, and stain — this is not a marketplace auction and not a “get four quotes” site.
High elevation is hard on stain
At 4,000+ feet, UV is stronger and freeze-thaw cycles open wood. A typical restain cycle here is 2–3 years — not a coastal 5–7. Deck maintenance is the planned recoat path. We plan around that, not a generic calendar.
Inspection first — never stain over rot
Every job starts with a look at the wood. If boards, rails, or posts are failing, repairs happen before stain. We do not send a crew to coat over mildew or a deck that is about to fail.
What the work includes
A typical staining job is wash, dry, prep and sand, any needed repair, then stain and seal — with color matching from sample boards when you want to stay close to what you have.
Pricing orientation
The cost depends on the deck. The estimate is confirmed on site.
How a project is coordinated
Request an estimate, we look in person, we match a trusted partner, and you keep one contact. Dry-cure after washing is often about three weeks and follows Utah weather windows, not a generic schedule.

Common questions
How often should a Salt Lake Valley deck be restained?
Most decks here need a recoat every 2–3 years. High-elevation UV and freeze-thaw wear finish faster than at lower elevation. A light recoat on a sound deck costs less than a full strip later. See deck maintenance for planned recoats.
Do you stain decks yourselves?
No. Wasatch Deck & Fence Restoration coordinates the estimate and the schedule. Trusted local partners do the physical staining and sealing. You still work with one contact — we do not auction your job to a list of random contractors.
What is the difference between staining and restoration?
Staining and sealing is the right path when the wood is sound and the finish is worn. Restoration is for decks where the coating has failed or the wood needs repair, strip, and rebuild before a new finish. We tell you honestly which one you need after an on-site look.
How long does deck staining take to dry?
After a wash, wood often needs about three weeks of dry-cure before stain will hold. That window depends on weather. Rushing it is the usual cause of early peeling. Start-to-finish timing is mostly dry time, not labor hours.
